Why should we all start using more apple cider vinegar? First of all, apple cider vinegar is a completely natural product: apple juice is fermented to hard apple cider, which is fermented a second time to apple cider vinegar. In integrating this natural product into our homes, we instantly decrease the consumption of unnatural chemicals in our daily lives.
Here are many other benefits of apple cider vinegar that can be applied to your lifestyle. Read the list below.
BEAUTY:
Hair: It is widely known that apple cider vinegar can be used as a rinse for your hair after shampooing to add healthy body and shine. Recycle an old shampoo bottle and fill it with 1/2 a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and a cup of cold water. Pour through your hair after shampooing several times a week.
Face: Did you know that apple cider vinegar can help regulate the pH of your skin? Dilute apple cider vinegar with two parts water, and spread the concoction over your face with a cotton ball as a toner. You can do this at night after washing, and in the morning before you apply your moisturizer. You can also dab apple cider vinegar directly onto age spots and leave them on overnight to lighten their color.

A study published on Jan. 4 in the Journal of the American Medical Association shows what happens when you consume too many calories. Researchers at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center randomly assigned 25 healthy young men and women an extra 1,000 calories a day on a low-protein diet, a high-protein diet or a normal-protein diet for eight weeks.
The volunteers all gained about the same amount of body fat, regardless of which eating plan they followed. The moral of the story? If you’re trying to slim down, remember that calories still count.

1. Why We’re Getting Fat

The average American eats 300 more calories daily than in 1985. Added sweeteners provide 23 percent of the extra calories; added fats provide another 24 percent.

The same amount of regular has 191 calories. Half a cup of fat-free vanilla frozen yogurt contains 100 calories, compared to 104 for the same amount of regular.

6. Most of Us Are Clueless about Calories

According to a 2010 survey by the International Food Information Council Foundation, only 11 percent of Americans can accurately estimate the number of calories they should consume daily for someone their age, height, weight and amount of physical activity.

If I was her I would have done the same thing. As an artist she wanted to bypass tabloids and tell the world during her performance that she was pregnant with no words. If she had of done that at 3 months rubbing her belly on stage folks would have thought, what’s wrong does she have gas, did she eat to much. Wearing the baby bump sends an obvious message she was preggers, artistic expression. Notice she tries to stay private. After that I think she is a paranoid pregnant lady (due to the previous miscarriage probably all the dancing) and probably wearing that prosthetic bump to keep her baby safe in case of a fall cause she was not giving up her Jimmy Choo stilettos, her other babies.

Jake Barnett is one in 10 million. The Indianapolis 13-year-old has been acing college math and science courses since he was eight years old. Now Jake is a college sophomore taking honors classes in math and physics, while also doing scientific research and tutoring fellow students. No one could have predicted that Jake would even make it to college. At age two, Jake began to regress - he stopped speaking and making eye contact. The diagnosis: autism. Jake is proud of his autism. "That, I believe, is the reason why I am in college and I am so successful," he tells Morley Safer.

Child prodigies have long been a source of great fascination. We wonder, "How can so much talent reside in such a young body, so much genius?" In a moment you'll meet Jake a 13-year-old math and science prodigy who is confident he may one day challenge some of the established theories of physics.

Jake: Hanging out with a teenage Einstein

What's it like to spend time with a teenage genius? Morley Safer and producer Katy Textor did just that.

The source of that talent and that confidence comes from our most remarkable organ, the one we understand least, the brain. What is it about Jake Barnett that had him taking college courses at age eight and getting As and by 12, doing paid scientific research, and today, at age 13, an honors college sophomore lecturing the crowd at his university science symposium.

[Jake Barnett: And do any of you want my resume at all?]

The untied shoelaces reveal either your average teenager, or the first telltale signs of the absentminded professor, or both.

Surrounded by researchers often twice his age, Jake is presenting his summer physics research project on PT symmetric lattice systems.

[Jake Barnett: This has implications in fiber optics, electromagnetic signals, anything that requires like a light going through a cable.]

Jake Barnett: Every number or math problem I ever hear, I have permanently remembered.

Morley Safer: You just never forget? They never slip out the back door of your brain?

Some blacks insist: 'I'm not African-American'

The labels used to describe Americans of African descent mark the movement of a people from the slave house to the White House. Today, many are resisting this progression by holding on to a name from the past: "black."

For this group — some descended from U.S. slaves, some immigrants with a separate history — "African-American" is not the sign of progress hailed when the term was popularized in the late 1980s. Instead, it's a misleading connection to a distant culture.
The debate has waxed and waned since African-American went mainstream, and gained new significance after the son of a black Kenyan and a white American moved into the White House. President Barack Obama's identity has been contested from all sides, renewing questions that have followed millions of darker Americans:
What are you? Where are you from? And how do you fit into this country?
"I prefer to be called black," said Shawn Smith, an accountant from Houston. "How I really feel is, I'm American."
"I don't like African-American. It denotes something else to me than who I am," said Smith, whose parents are from Mississippi and North Carolina. "I can't recall any of them telling me anything about Africa. They told me a whole lot about where they grew up in Macomb County and Shelby, N.C."
Gibré George, an entrepreneur from Miami, started a Facebook page called "Don't Call Me African-American" on a whim. It now has about 300 "likes."
"We respect our African heritage, but that term is not really us," George said. "We're several generations down the line. If anyone were to ship us back to Africa, we'd be like fish out of water."
"It just doesn't sit well with a younger generation of black people," continued George, who is 38. "Africa was a long time ago. Are we always going to be tethered to Africa? Spiritually I'm American. When the war starts, I'm fighting for America."
Joan Morgan, a writer born in Jamaica who moved to New York City as a girl, remembers the first time she publicly corrected someone about the term: at a book signing, when she was introduced as African-American and her family members in the front rows were appalled and hurt.
"That act of calling me African-American completely erased their history and the sacrifice and contributions it took to make me an author," said Morgan, a longtime U.S. citizen who calls herself Black-Caribbean American. (Some insist Black should be capitalized.)
She said people struggle with the fact that black people have multiple ethnicities because it challenges America's original black-white classifications. In her view, forcing everyone into a name meant for descendants of American slaves distorts the nature of the contributions of immigrants like her black countrymen Marcus Garvey and Claude McKay.
Morgan acknowledges that her homeland of Jamaica is populated by the descendants of African slaves. "But I am not African, and Africans are not African-American," she said.
In Latin, a forerunner of the English language, the color black is "niger." In 1619, the first African captives in America were described as "negars," which became the epithet still used by some today.
The Spanish word "negro" means black. That was the label applied by white Americans for centuries.
The word black also was given many pejorative connotations — a black mood, a blackened reputation, a black heart. "Colored" seemed better, until the civil rights movement insisted on Negro, with a capital N.
Then, in the 1960s, "black" came back — as an expression of pride, a strategy to defy oppression.
"Every time black had been mentioned since slavery, it was bad," says Mary Frances Berry, a University of Pennsylvania history professor and former chair of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. Reclaiming the word "was a grass-roots move, and it was oppositional. It was like, 'In your face.'"
Afro-American was briefly in vogue in the 1970s, and lingers today in the names of some newspapers and university departments. But it was soon overshadowed by African-American, which first sprouted among the black intelligentsia.
The Rev. Jesse Jackson is widely credited with taking African-American mainstream in 1988, before his second presidential run.
Berry remembers being at a 1988 gathering of civil rights groups organized by Jackson in Chicago when Ramona Edelin, then president of the National Urban Coalition, urged those assembled to declare that black people should be called African-American.
Edelin says today that there was no intent to exclude people born in other countries, or to eliminate the use of black: "It was an attempt to start a cultural offensive, because we were clearly at that time always on the defensive."
"We said, this is kind of a compromise term," she continued. "There are those among us who don't want to be referred to as African. And there also those among us who don't want to be referred to as American. This was a way of bridging divisions among us or in our ideologies so we can move forward as a group."
Jackson, who at the time may have been the most-quoted black man in America, followed through with the plan.
"Every ethnic group in this country has a reference to some land base, some historical, cultural base," Jackson told reporters at the time. "African-Americans have hit that level of cultural maturity."
The effect was immediate. "Back in those days we didn't talk about things going viral, but that's what you would say today. It was quite remarkable," said the columnist Clarence Page, then a reporter. "It was kind of like when Black Power first came in the '60s, there was all kinds of buzz among black folks and white folks about whether or not I like this."
Page liked it — he still uses it interchangeably with black — and sees an advantage to changing names.
"If we couldn't control anything else, at least we could control what people call us," Page said. "That's the most fundamental right any human being has, over what other people call you. (African-American) had a lot of psychic value from that point of view."
It also has historical value, said Irv Randolph, managing editor of the Philadelphia Tribune, a black newspaper that uses both terms: "It's a historical fact that we are people of African descent."
"African-American embraces where we came from and where we are now," he said. "We are Americans, no doubt about that. But to deny where we came from doesn't make any sense to me."
Jackson agrees about such denial. "It shows a willful ignorance of our roots, our heritage and our lineage," he said Tuesday. "A fruit without a root is dying."
He observed that the history of how captives were brought here from Africa is unchangeable, and that Senegal is almost as close to New York as Los Angeles.
"If a chicken is born in the oven," Jackson said, "that doesn't make it a biscuit."
Today, 24 years after Jackson popularized African-American, it's unclear what term is preferred by the community. A series of Gallup polls from 1991 to 2007 showed no strong consensus for either black or African-American. In a January 2011 NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, 42 percent of respondents said they preferred black, 35 percent said African-American, 13 percent said it doesn't make any difference, and 7 percent chose "some other term."
Meanwhile, a record number of black people in America — almost 1 in 10 — were born abroad, according to census figures.
Tomi Obaro is one of them. Her Nigerian-born parents brought her to America from England as a girl, and she became a citizen last year. Although she is literally African-American, the University of Chicago senior says the label implies she is descended from slaves. It also feels vague and liberal to her.
"It just sort of screams this political correctness," Obaro said. She and her black friends rarely use it to refer to themselves, only when they're speaking in "proper company."
"Or it's a word that people who aren't black use to describe black people," she said.
Or it's a political tool. In a Senate race against Obama in 2004, Alan Keyes implied that Obama could not claim to share Keyes' "African-American heritage" because Keyes' ancestors were slaves. During the Democratic presidential primary, some Hillary Clinton supporters made the same charge.
Last year, Herman Cain, then a Republican presidential candidate, sought to contrast his roots in the Jim Crow south with Obama's history, and he shunned the label African-American in favor of "American black conservative." Rush Limbaugh mocked Obama as a "halfrican-American."
Then there are some white Americans who were born in Africa.
Paulo Seriodo is a U.S. citizen born in Mozambique to parents from Portugal. In 2009 he filed a lawsuit against his medical school, which he said suspended him after a dispute with black classmates over whether Seriodo could call himself African-American.
"It doesn't matter if I'm from Africa, and they are not!" Seriodo wrote at the time. "They are not allowing me to be African-American!"
And so the saga of names continues.
"I think it's still evolving," said Edelin, the activist who helped popularize African-American. "I'm content, for now, with African and American."
"But," she added, "that's not to say that it won't change again."

Don Cornelius -- who famously created "Soul Train" was found dead in his Sherman Oaks, CA home this morning ... and law enforcement sources tell us it appears he committed suicide.

We're told cops discovered the body at around 4 AM PT. Law enforcement sources tell us ... Cornelius died from a gunshot wound to the head and officials believe the wound was self-inflicted.

We're told Cornelius was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

"Soul Train" changed the landscape of television when it debuted in 1971 and ran until 2006.

Cornelius was 75.

During Don's bitter divorce proceedings in 2009, he told an L.A. judge he was suffering from "significant health issues" and wanted to "finalize this divorce before I die."

Cornelius was arrested in 2008 for beating up his wife. He pled no contest to misdemeanor domestic violence and was placed on 3 years probation. His probation just terminated.

The divorce was granted in 2010.

Sources close to Don tell us ... the TV icon was plagued with health issues for years ... including a stroke and a condition that required brain surgery.

What Your Tongue is Telling You About Your Health
Your body may be trying to tell you something if your tongue gets bumpy, changes color, or worse.

You may not give your tongue much thought, but chances are your doctor does. “Telling a patient to stick out their tongue is a valid way to start examining someone,” says Dr. Jordan S. Josephson, attending physician at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City and author of Sinus Relief Now. “In fact, in Chinese medicine they believe that the tongue actually reflects all the diseases of the body.” If you have a mystery tongue problem, Josephson recommends going to see a board certified otolaryngologist (more commonly known as an ear, nose, and throat specialist).

White coating

When the tongue looks sort of white and pasty—in patches or in its entirety—it’s an indication that there’s probably some sort of infection present on the tongue, such as a bacterial overgrowth or an autoimmune-related inflammatory disease. One possible cause: Thrush, which is an overgrowth of candida (also called yeast) bacteria. Once the infection is treated with anti-fungal drugs (either topical or oral) and the infection clears up, the tongue will return to its healthy pink shade.

Too dark

A healthy tongue should have a warm, pinkish color, so when it looks dark brown or black, you need to wonder why. And chances are, the answer will be in your diet, lifestyle or your medicine cabinet. “The filiform papillae on the top of the tongue—particularly if they’re elongated—can easily take on stains or various colors from the foods, drinks, antibiotics, lozenges, etc. that you consume,” says Sol Silverman, Jr., DDS, a spokesperson for the American Dental Association. A side effect of taking bismuth medications (like Pepto Bismol) is that the tongue may turn temporarily black. And drinking a lot of coffee, smoking or chewing tobacco can stain the tongue a brownish shade. The good news is that in both cases, it’s probably just stained from food or medicine, and simply brushing your tongue a few times should help it fade back to its normal shade. While the staining may not be permanent, beware that any kind of tobacco use increases your risk of oral cancer.

Getting hairy

“The top of the tongue is covered with little projections called filiform papillae,” explains Silverman. “They’re made up of keratin—the same protein that makes up hair, but they’re not really ‘hair.’” And under normal conditions, you wouldn’t even notice them. But certain conditions can cause them to elongate, giving the tongue a “hairy” appearance. Several factors could be responsible for causing the filiform papillae to grow, including a bacterial infection, taking antibiotics, or having a very dry mouth.

Sore spots

They may be small, but canker sores or mouth ulcers (which can occur anywhere in the mouth, including the tongue) can be extremely painful. “Most things that happen in the mouth are multi-factorial,” says Silverman. And these sores are no exception. Generally, those with a genetic predisposition to getting cankers will see them crop up when other factors fall into place—such as having a cold or fever, eating an excess of citrus fruits, or biting your tongue. But keep an eye on those spots. A normal canker will heal up and vanish in a week to 10 days. Something that lasts longer and doesn’t seem to be going away could be a sign of oral cancer and should be checked out by your doctor immediately.

A bumpy surface

The filiform papillae—projections on the top of the tongue, including the taste buds—normally stick up a little bit. But occasionally one will get temporarily inflamed, red, and a bit sore. As with canker sores, as long as the area returns to normal within a time span of a few days, the inflammation is most likely harmless. “But if it turns very red or white, is painful and tender, and most importantly, doesn’t go away, it could be a sign of oral cancer,” Josephson warns.

At first glance the first generation Chinese schoolgirl, who is learning to drive, seems in many ways an average Californian teenager, CBS News reported.

But when she shared a project she had created in her spare time with her Monta Vista High School, chemistry teacher, Kavita Gupta it was the beginning of an extraordinary sequence of events.

The project an advanced research paper detailing a method for curing cancer was beyond her teacher.

'Cure for cancer -- a high school student,' Gupta told CBS. 'It's just so mind-boggling. I just cannot even begin to comprehend how she even thought about it or did this.'

Angela had always been precocious. As a freshman, she read doctorate level papers on bio-engineering.

In sophomore year she'd talked her way into the lab at Stanford, and by junior year she was doing her own research on the project.

'I just thought, 'Why not?' 'What is there to lose?'' said Angela.

'At first it was a little bit overwhelming,' said Angela, 'but I found that it almost became like a puzzle, being able to decode something.'

Angela's idea was to mix cancer medicine in a polymer that would attach to nanoparticles – These nanoparticles that would then fasten themselves to cancer cells and show up on an MRI allowing doctors to exactly where tumors are.

An infrared light aimed at the tumours would melt the polymer and release the medicine, killing the cancer cells while leaving healthy cells unharmed.

When tested on mice the tumours almost completely disappeared. Although it will be years before scientist will be able to run tests on humans, the results do seem promising.

Meanwhile Angela's paper won her the national Siemens science contest, netting the teen $100,000.

'This is a Cinderella moment for a science nerd like me,' Zhang told the Mercury News.

'I'm excited to learn just everything possible,' she said. 'Everything in the sciences -- biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, even computer science -- to make new innovations possible.'

Young sisters face so many challenges today: doing well in school, fitting in with peers, and still finding their place in the world. They also come up against some serious social issues—dating, pregnancy, drugs, sexually transmitted diseases, physical and verbal abuse—that not only can alter the course of a preteen’s or a young teen’s life but also can sabotage her self-esteem.

Self-esteem. Fostering a healthy sense of it is one of the most important jobs we face as parents raising African-American girls. For our daughters, the foundation for a strong sense of self is a nurturing and supportive family life.
Talk to your daughter. Ask her what’s going on in school and with her peers. Talk about television, music, and magazines; girls are exposed to so many images from these media that can negatively affect how they see themselves. And even though some studies have suggested that Black girls tend to have stronger body images than White girls, our daughters are far from immune to the insidious messages out there.

Girls often worry about their physical attractiveness, and many aspects of our society do not validate Black girls’ looks. “Our [own] community is still struggling with stereotypes about skin tone and hair texture,” says Derek S. Hopson, Ph.D., a psychologist who, with his wife, Darlene Powell Hopson, Ph.D., operates the Hopson Center for Psychological and Educational Services in Middlefield, Connecticut. The Hopsons are also coauthors of Different and Wonderful: Raising Black Children in a Race-Conscious Society (Fireside; $12).

“You still hear people say, ‘She has good hair,’ referring to wavy or straight hair,” Dr. Hopson notes. “And you’ll hear, ‘She’s dark-skinned, but she’s pretty.’ Pop culture also tends to put a higher value on Black women of a fairer complexion. Because of such statements, we must be sure to remind Black girls about the diversity that exists in our race.”

Positive parenting can do much to offset the influences within mainstream media and our own culture. Here is some practical advice to help keep your daughter’s sense of self strong:

1. Encourage your daughter to value her own beauty. Be proactive in setting and communicating your own standards of beauty, and your daughter will learn to appreciate the uniqueness of each person’s beauty, including her own.

2. Help your daughter to appreciate her own accomplishments. As Dr. Hopson explains, the diverse achievements of Black women have not always been recognized. “They may not get the recognition for their achievements immediately,” he says, “but that doesn’t mean they did not achieve.”

3. Reassure your daughter that she does not have to fit into the stereotyped portrayals of Black women that are seen on television and in movies. “The Black girls that are viewed as ‘OK’ are the ones who seem meek,” says Dr. Hopson. Those on-screen images, Dr. Hopson adds, send Black girls the message that you will be accepted only “if you’re not too confident or too assertive. If you are too assertive, you are seen as aggressive.”

4. Support your daughter’s development and exploration of her own character and opinions. Black girls should be encouraged to place a high value on being accepted and respected for their individual qualities, and should not feel that they need to apologize for their strengths.

5. Teach your daughter that it is not OK for women to be disrespected. Encourage her to stand up for herself and not to accept abuse. Every Black girl should believe that she deserves better than that.

6. Help your daughter develop a positive attitude about her body. Although young girls often endure being teased about their bodies—whether about weight or breast development—“they should embrace those changes as part of womanhood,” Dr. Hopson explains.

7. Make sure your daughter knows that she has a right—and a responsibility—to define what is acceptable behavior and to set limits. All girls should understand that it is OK to speak out if someone else’s behavior is making them uncomfortable. “If a boy has written a letter to your daughter that is out of line, you have to nip it in the bud,” says Dr. Hopson. “Let her know that she has to be all right with her body and personal space. Help her to recognize inappropriate behavior, and understand how to respond.”

Idris Elba of "Luther" won the Golden Globe award for actor in a series, miniseries or motion picture made for television. Elba beat out Hugh Bonneville of "Downton Abbey," William Hurt of "Too Big to Fail," Bill Nighy of "Page Eight" and Dominic West of "The Hour" for the award.

Elba plays antihero detective John Luther in the series on BBC America. His "Luther" character is able to identify a killer at 10 paces but has suffered a mental breakdown, which resulted from the flawed decision of chasing down a pedophile. Elba has also appeared in "The Wire, " "The Office" and the film "Thor."

2012 is off to a wonderful start for Beyonce and Jay-Z!
The singer, 30, gave birth to a baby girl in New York on Saturday, according to various outlets, including Good Morning America and her hometown paper, the Houston Chronicle, which reported that "baby and mom are doing just fine." GMA reports the superstar gave birth via C-section.

"Welcome to the world, Blue," Beyonce and Jay-Z's close friend Gwyneth Paltrow tweeted Sunday. "We love you already."
The actress also answered a "confused" fan who asked if the infant's name is "Ivy Blue or Blue Ivy," saying, "It's Blue Ivy!'
According to GMA, the couple chose "Ivy" because of the significance of the number "4" or "IV," -- Beyonce and Jay-Z were born on Sept. 4 and Dec. 4, respectively, were married on April 4, 2008, and Beyonce's latest album is entitled 4.)
It's the first child for the "Love on Top" singer and hip-hop mogul Jay-Z (real name: Shawn Carter), 42.

An observer at NYC's Lenox Hill Hospital told Us Weekly that Jay-Z was spotted walking the hospital halls Saturday morning looking "happy." Beyonce's family members -- sister Solange, parents Tina and Mathew Knowles -- were also spotted at the facility with "flowers with pink balloons and silver and black ribbons," the witness added.

Confirming the big news? None other than superstar pal Rihanna, who tweeted Saturday, "Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih."

Fellow hip hop icon Russell Simmons also wrote: "Congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z."
The 30-year-old singer first announced she and her hubby, 42, were expecting at MTV's Video Music Awards in August. During her incredible "Love on Top" performance, she exclaimed, "Feel the love that's growing inside of me," before ripping open her purple sequined blazer to reveal her baby bump.

Beyonce was spotted as recently as Thursday night in NYC, covering up her growing baby bump with a colorful scarf.
Although rumors spread at the beginning of the month that she had already given birth, a source told Us Beyonce and the Roc Nation mogul actually spent New Year's Eve dining on fried chicken and oysters at Brooklyn restaurant Buttermilk Channel.

A Republican congressman from Wisconsin has offered a personal apology to First Lady Michelle Obama after he was overheard at an airport lounge criticizing her "large posterior."

Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner was overheard loudly complaining on the phone in the Delta Lounge at Reagan National Airport outside Washington about Obama's healthy food initiative.
According to Fishbowl DC, which first reported the lawmaker's remarks, Sensenbrenner was recounting a recent conversation he'd had at church event in Wisconsin.
Obama, Sensenbrenner said loudly, "lectures us on eating right while she has a large posterior herself."
According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Daniel Bice, Sensenbrenner made a similar remark at the Wisconsin church he was referencing in his phone call, telling attendees there that Obama has a "big butt."
The Wisconsin lawmaker—who, it must noted, is a bit rotund--sent a personal note to Obama apologizing for his remarks, his spokeswoman Amanda Infield tells Yahoo News. She declined to go into detail about what the note said.
In a statement to reporters, the lawmaker reiterated his apology. "I regret my inappropriate comment, and I have sent a personal note to the First Lady apologizing," he said.
A spokesman for Obama did not respond to a request for comment.
It's not the first time Republicans have mentioned Obama's looks in criticizing her campaign to end childhood obesity. Earlier this year, Rush Limbaugh trashed the initiative, suggesting Obama doesn't physically appear to practice what she preaches.

'Tis the season for over indulgence, but soon visions of sugar plums will be crowded out by New Year's resolutions to cut calories and lose the cookie belly. Is it possible to have your cake, or at least your pasta, and eat it too?

Shirataki noodles from Japan contain zero calories and zero carbs and are gaining a following amongst flab fighters around the country as a miracle alternative to traditional pasta. Lisa Lillien, who writes the popular "Hungry Girl" newsletter, is one of the product's biggest boosters in the United States and endorses the variety made by House of Foods brand.

The noodles, which come in lots of familiar shapes such as spaghetti, angel hair, and fettuccini, are made of water and fiber from a plant called konjac yam instead of from wheat flour. They are naturally calorie- and carb-free, because the fiber they contain is not absorbed by the body. Tofu shirataki, a type made from soybeans and yam flour has about 20 calories and three grams of carbohydrates per serving.

But how do they actually taste? I boiled some up and tossed with a modest glug of olive oil and sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. The eyes play a big role in our enjoyment of food, and the fettuccine variety looked delicious. The flavor was a little less decadent (let's be realistic though, we're talking calorie-free yam fiber and water, not cheese grits).

If you are craving a true, Italian-style pasta, the texture of shirataki might be disappointing. They have a slightly gelatinous mouth feel similar to an Asian rice noodle. They work well in soups where they make a good substitute for egg noodles or you can pat dry with paper towels and stir-fry. The flavor is completely neutral so, if the texture is not off putting, they pair with almost any sauce. Shirataki are also a snap to cook. The noodles are packaged in plastic bags suspended in liquid: just rinse and boil for 2-3 minutes before using.

But, you can't survive on shirataki-no calories or carbs also means no nutritive food value. And, if you are not used to eating a lot of fiber, try a small serving first, or you risk gastric upset (there is a good reason that they are referred to as a "broom for the stomach" in Japan). Shirataki are inexpensive and available in the refrigerator section of a growing number of stores, including Asian markets, Whole Foods, and Trader Joe's. For hardcore calorie- and carb-counters, they are worth a try.

The Daily Mail ran a story recently on mega cheap beauty tricks, and one of it’s recommendations came from a book wrtten by Diana Irons called The World’s Best Anti-Aging Secrets. Irons says ”It contains salicylic acid, and if you put a coating on your face, let it set for a few minutes, then wash it off, your skin will have a mega-glow that shines through even after you put on your makeup”.
So on this rainy Sunday morning I thought I’d give it go to see if her claims proved true. After shaking the bottle vigorously, I applied the unpleasant-smelling viscous pink liquid to my face with a cotton wool pad, and tried to relax for 10 minutes. Difficult, as the scent reminded me of childhood stomach aches.
As the liquid dries, it has a noticeable tightening effect of the skin like many face masks, and after I rinsed it off there was a certain pinkish glow to my face, but I think this may be down to the red food colouring in the Pepto Bismol rather than anything else. The glow certainly didn’t ‘shine through’ after I put on my makeup.
Peptol Bismol’s active ingredient is bismuth subsalicylate, an antibacterial that also has exfoliant properties, but much less so than salicylic acid. Salicylic Acid is a beta hydroxy acid commonly used in skin care for it’s exfoliating and anti-acne properties, but you could achieve this just as easily and cheaply using an aspirin face mask, as salicylic acid is the main ingredient.
So, my verdict? Well it certainly won’t do you any harm, but in my humble opinion, an aspirin face mask would work just as well as a cheap beauty treatment.
UPDATE:
Just had to mention that the day after the Pepto Bismol face mask, my skin actually looked pretty good, really quite ‘glowy’. I’m going to give it another go in a week or so to see if it gives the same result.

"Oprah" believes the spoiled brat flew to the struggling island nation to reverse fallout over her ill-fated marriage to Kris Humphries. In fact, according to celebdirtylaundry.com, the reality star insults the locals, and is treating the trip like a luxury vacation. She even attended a fashion show!
The billionaire former talk show queen, meanwhile, is down in the trenches, earnestly trying to help the earthquake-shattered country get back on its feet.
Just add Winfrey's comments to the chorus of boos aimed recently at the Kardashian clan. Daniel Craig, Janice Dickinson, and The Sitter star Jonah Hill have all landed verbal blows to the fame-seeking family.
Dickinson called the E! stars, "sluts, whores and sluts." Granted, she is being redundant, but you get the picture.
But, Winfrey's criticism will be taken seriously by the public. Does anyone really care what Hill thinks about anything?
When a woman as respected and trusted as Winfrey offers an opinion, people tend to listen. And, considering she isn't known for calling celebrities to the carpet, her comments will be given more weight. Is there any depth to which Kardashian won't stoop?

Barbara began the interview questioning Kim Kardashian about her infamous sex tape with R & B singer Ray J that made her a household name. “So, was it a good thing to have done?” Walters asked of the X-rated clip. Kim stammered before she replied, “I’ve made mistakes in my life for sure”.
The interview continued with Barbara Walters bringing up a frequent complaint about the famous reality family. “You don’t really act; you don’t sing; you don’t dance,…You don’t have any — forgive me — any talent!”
Kim Kardashian defended her fame by replying, “I think it’s more of a challenge to go on a reality show and get people to fall in love with you for being you. So, there’s definitely a lot more pressure, I think, to be famous for being ourselves.”

Kim Kardashian was able to skip questions about her 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries because the interview taped before she filed for divorce on October 31.

An African-American natural hair group is planning to hand out Barbies to girls at Booker T. Washington apartments in Columbus, GA, for Christmas, but before giving away the dolls, the women plan to give them a bit of a hair makeover.
“When you look for dolls, they all have straight hair,” group member Candice McBride told the Ledger-Enquirer. “It’s tricky even to find ones with brown eyes,” she added noting the European features visible on most dolls despite the fact that they come in 50 nationalities.
Using an online tutorial for halo or rotini hairstyles for Barbies, the ladies will transform the texture of the dolls’ hair via pipe cleaners, end papers, and boiling water.
“We wanted to show the girls that basically, it’s okay the way God made you,” said Jennifer Henderson, another member of the group. Henderson said her 2-year-old daughter, Imani, isn’t into Barbies just yet, but she does like dolls.
“She’s into baby dolls. I’ll brush her hair and she’ll brush her doll’s hair,” she said. “She wants to do what she sees me doing.”

Researchers at Bar-Ilan University in Israel monitored the "cardiac output" of women and their three-month-old infants during face-to-face interactions.

Their report, published in the scientific journal Infant Behavior and Development revealed that affectionate face-to-face interaction caused the heart rhythm of mother and baby to coordinate "within lags of less than one second."

The researchers noted: "The concordance between maternal and infant biological rhythms increased significantly during episodes of affect and vocal synchrony compared to non-synchronous moments. Humans, like other mammals, can impact the physiological processes of the attachment partner through the coordination of visuo-affective social signals."

With a few weeks left in the year, 2012 will soon begin with a brand new season of two returning BET sitcoms – The Game & Let’s Stay Together. You may have noticed it's less content and more visual these days. In addition to work and family life I have been putting some really cool things together as you will begin to see roll out soon enough.

I'm a naturally creative person hence the drama major and Shakesphere festivals, then pursuing and music career. Opportunities so close yet so far. I've found a new way to express myself lately and will be very excited to share another talent with you shortly.

So the devil has already stuck himself in their songs and you can backmask to hear what that spirit has to say. Just as "REAL CHRIST INSPIRED MUSIC" if played backwards praises Jesus. HOWEVER, if your a backsliding "saying your a Christian" but closet devil it will still come out in the music, hence Jimmy Swaggerd, major preacher exposed when you play his music backwards it says hail satan.

Ingredients
For the Cupcakes:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup cake flour
1 3.9-ounce box instant vanilla pudding mix
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon potato starch
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 stick unsalted butter, at room temperature
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 large egg whites, at room temperature
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup half-and-half, at room temperature
1/2 cup chopped cooked bacon (5 strips)
For the Frosting:
1 8-ounce package cream cheese, at room temperature
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup maple syrup
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
3 strips bacon, cooked and chopped (optional)
Directions
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Place paper liners in a 12-cup muffin tin. Prepare the cupcakes: Combine the flours, pudding mix, baking powder, potato starch, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in a bowl with a whisk.

In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugars with a mixer on low speed until combined, 6 to 8 minutes. Gradually mix in the vanilla and egg whites. Scrape down the sides of the bowl; continue mixing until light and fluffy. Add the flour mixture in 3 batches, alternating with the maple syrup and half-and-half, mixing after each addition and ending with flour. Mix until the ingredients are just combined; do not overmix. Fold in the bacon.

Pour the batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each cup about three-quarters of the way. Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 40 minutes. Cool completely.

Meanwhile, prepare the frosting: Beat the cream cheese and butter with a mixer on medium speed until creamy. Add the confectioners' sugar, maple syrup and cinnamon; beat until combined. Spread on the cooled cupcakes; top with chopped bacon, if desired.

Florida police on Friday arrested a man suspected of administering dangerous and illegal butt-boosting shots – injecting at least one woman with a cocktail of substances including cement, glue and tire sealant.
And, believe it or not, that man is the person pictured above.
The man is 30-year-old Oneal Ron Morrie.
Police could not release an official report on the incident, noting that the case is still under investigation. However, Sgt. William Bamford of the Miami Gardens, Fla., Police Department said that the procedure took place in May 2010, after the as-yet-unidentified victim met with Morris to discuss the procedure.
“They agreed on the price of $700 for the procedure, which was intended for cosmetic purposes,” Bamford said.
What the woman got for her money was a series of injections containing a bizarre concoction of cement, super glue, mineral oil and Fix-A-Flat tire inflator and sealant, police said.
Bamford said that the procedure was conducted not in a clinic, but in a residential setting in Miami Gardens, and that shortly after the substance was injected into the woman’s body she developed what Bamford termed “severe complications.”
“[A] short time later, she develops very serious pains, abdomen, throughout her body,” Bamford told ABC affiliate WPLG. “She knows something’s wrong.”
Bamford said the woman went to two different local hospitals, finally heading to Tampa General Hospital, where she received treatment, he said.
Bamford said the woman had an infection at the wound site with the drug-resistant bug MRSA, and she had also developed pneumonia. Even then, Bamford said, the woman was not forthcoming with doctors regarding the source of her symptoms.
But doctors at the hospital, suspecting the work of an unlicensed practitioner was to blame, contacted the Florida Department of Health.
Unfortunately, before health officials could learn more about the case, the woman had left the hospital.
It was not until March 2011 that investigators in South Florida were able to piece together enough of what happened to track down Morris and arrest him in North Lauderdale, Fla., a suburb of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He was charged with practicing medicine without a license and causing bodily harm.
As odd as the idea of cut-rate, illicit, butt-boosting injections may sound, this case is far from the first that has made headlines – and in some cases, the outcome has been deadly.
In February, 20-year-old British woman Claudia Aderotimi died following a cosmetic buttocks injection administered in a Philadelphia hotel room.
In January, Whalesca Castillo, an unlicensed practitioner in New York City, was arrested for running an illegal business out of her home injecting women with liquid silicone in the buttocks and breasts.
And in 2010, a Miami woman, Ana Josefa Sevilla, was charged with a similar crime after one of her clients ended up in the emergency room with complications.
“We’ve heard of people having caulk or industrial-grade silicone, neither of which is approved for use anywhere in the body, injected into their buttocks,” Dr. Felmont Eaves, a North Carolina-based plastic surgeon and president of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, told ABCNews.com at the time of Aderotimi’s death. “There are safe ways to augment the buttocks. Fat grafts usually work extremely well, but obviously you want someone who is board-certified to do that procedure.”
A Florida man was arrested after police said he posed as a doctor and injected a substance containing cement, a tire sealant and other substances into a woman's buttocks.
In May, a woman who wanted buttock injections to enhance her appearance went to the suspect's Miami Gardens, Fla., home for the procedure, police said.
"They agree on a price of $700 for him to enhance her buttocks," Miami Gardens police Sgt. Bill Bamford told Miami TV station WPLG.
Police said Oneal Ron Morris, 30, who police say was born a man but identifies as a woman, injected a substance consisting of cement, Fix-A-Flat, mineral oil and superglue into the woman's buttocks and then sealed the incision with superglue.
"I think it's crazy," Bamford said. "Most definitely life-threatening."
Police said Morris is not a doctor. The patient ended up developing medical issues and went to two South Florida hospitals. She eventually drove to Tampa General, where she was treated for pain, pneumonia and a MRSA infection.
"That cocktail had serious complications and serious effects on this young lady," Bamford said.
Police arrested Morris in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on charges of practicing without a license and causing bodily harm.

Over the weekend while my little one was in the store picking out toys. I decided to pick up all the mags with Kim on the cover to see what everyone had to say. So what I got is some say 3 days before the wedding she consulted with a divorce lawyer about her 2nd annulment. Some say she is so depressed she is not eating. Some say she is so depressed she is eating everything. She did cancel all her appointments and not allowing E to film her during this time. Many say Kim is mad at her mom Kris Jenner for pressuring her into marriage when she wasn't ready. Some say the other sisters are mad because the drama with Kim is effecting their business.

Some say Kris Humpfries was said to of been blind sided and didn't know about the divorce. Some say he was so upset with Kim cause she never took off working so they could at least honeymoon so he wasn't going to stay sitting at home so he started hanging out with friends which upset Kim still a Kardashian- Humpries. Some say she was so mad she filed for a divorce. Kris Hump refused and wouldn't sign any divorce papers nor pick up her calls if she wanted to talk she'd have to come to Minnesota.

Kim announced the divorce publicly and hoping she'd turn to understanding fans, it backfired. Instead fans feeling like they went through the relationship to and now being broken hearted started calling Kim Kardashian a fake saying the marriage was a publicity stunt for her and her mom. Fans trashed the Dash Store, they've been warning Tyler Perry to not hire Kim K for the film or they would boycott it and has even gone as far as to boycott E to cut Keeping Up with the Kardashians from the line up.
"We are respectfully requesting that your network find other shows to Air," reads the petition addressed to "E! Online." "Keeping up with the Kardashians is just not viewing that we the public, would like to see from your network. Enough is enough."
"We feel that these shows are mostly staged and place an emphasis on vanity, greed, promiscuity, vulgarity and over-the-top conspicuous consumption," said Snider in a statement to Yahoo!, "While some may have begun watching the spectacle as mindless entertainment or as a sort of 'reality satire,' it is a sad truth that many young people are looking up to this family and are modeling their appearance and behavior after them."

After all of this Kim being upset with the response some say Kim then decided to try to reconcile and flew to Minnesota to see Kris with a marriage counselor. It didn't work out so Kris Humpfries agreed to get a divorce lawyer. Which I don't understand why cause he signed a pre-nup and will get nothing.

Question is what happens to the 2 million dollar ring? The attempt by KIM to get a bigger ring than Kloe's and have a bigger and more fabulous wedding than Kloe's. All of it was for not. I personally have been able to identify with Khloe, she's more humble and doesn't take life to seriously. Compare the kisses on their wedding day Kloe and Lamar tongued it up and Kim and Kris didn't even say their own vows and she barely kissed him as to not mess up her make up,.....that says something about their relationships, Khloe was right to tell Kim she "falls to fast" and she is in love with being in love not the man.

It's sad to see cause it seems the spotlight that she wanted so much is a bad boyfriend it loves her one minute and hates her the next to the point President Obama made a statement that the Kardashians are not roll models and he won't let his girls watch the show. Kathy Gifford a friend of the family said she was upset with Kim for not fighting harder for the marriage.

I hope Kim K can get it together and really consider if this relationship can work and stop trying to control everything like a well oiled machine, it's obvious the screws were to tight and this machine is broke down.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. I learned that lesson I hope they can learn the same. My prayers are with them.

A few weeks ago, 10-year-old Ashlynn Conner told her mother she was being bullied at Ridge Farm Elementary School and in her neighborhood in Ridge Farm, Ill., WTSP reported.

Last week, Ashlynn's mother, denied her daughter's request to be home schooled. The following day, the 10-year-old's sister found her hanging in her closet by a scarf.

The devastated single mother told WCIA3 News she knew her daughter was being picked on, but not to that extent.

"They'd call her a slut," a tearful Conner told the station, "'Ashlynn's ugly.' 'She's fat.'"

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Rapper Heavy D, who rose to fame during the 1990s and scored hit singles such as "Now That We Found Love", died on Tuesday after collapsing outside his Beverly Hills home. He was 44.

Beverly Hills Police Lt. Mark Rosen said in a statement that the rapper, whose real name is Dwight Arrington Meyers, was found on a walkway at 11:25 a.m. PST outside his condominium. He conscious and talking, but having difficulty breathing. Paramedics were called and the singer was rushed to a nearby hospital.

"The individual ultimately died at the hospital," Rosen said. He added that there were no signs of foul play, and the death is believed to be medically related. An official cause is pending an autopsy by Los Angeles County coroners.

The singer's New York-based agent was not immediately available for comment.

Rotund rapper Heavy D was born in Jamaica and moved to Mt. Vernon, New York as a child. He enjoyed hip hop music as a kid and formed his first group, the Boyz, with high school friends who took the stage names DJ Eddie F, Trouble T-Roy and G-Wiz.

The group became Heavy D & The Boyz and released their first album in 1987, which included singles "Mr. Big Stuff" and "The Overweight Lover's in the House." Their breakout album came with 1989's "Big Tyme," which included the hits "Somebody for Me" and "We Got Our Own Thang."

The band met with tragedy in 1990 when Trouble T-Roy died in an accident. One year later, they scored their biggest hit with the album "Peaceful Journey" and single "Now That We Found Love," which reached the top five on R&B charts and crossed over to mainstream pop audiences.

A string of hits followed in the 1990s. The band sang the theme song for popular TV show "In Living Color," and Heavy D's 1999 CD "Heavy" became his seventh album to chart among the R&B top 10.
During those years, the rapper also began acting, working in small roles on film and TV before landing a role in high-school TV drama "Boston Public". His film work included parts in "The Cider House Rules," "Step Up" and "Big Trouble."
Musicians and fans mourned the rapper's death on Twitter.
"U will be missed Heavy D so many laughs we've shared but your Music is Timeless and will Always be Around 4ever Love u Heav...," posted rapper Missy Elliot.
"NCIS: Los Angeles" star LL Cool J also tweeted, "May GOD embrace the soul of Heavy D and Bless his family. I respected you Heavy and I always will."

R&B artist Ne-Yo, who was with Heavy D in London recently, said "Had I known it'd be the last time I'd see him, I woulda told him he was truly great. RIP..."

Heavy D performed at the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards and at the Michael Jackson tribute show in Cardiff, Wales, both in October.

Kim is very preggers in this seasons opening with her children and Sweetie (with a new weave KUDOS, she looks great) catering to her hand and foot. Kim's living in her dream home with her boyfriend Falcons Football player Kroy who was away doing promo work.
Nene proudly bought her live at home grown son Bryce a car cash, you go Nene cause I'm sure that felt good to do.
Now the drama Sheree had a hosting opportunity and asked Nene if she wanted to get it on it. Apparently Nene called the promoters and said that she would give a better rate and not to use Sheree. Sheree was upset and had a sit down with Nene which turned into arguing and standing up's F U's and B's flying everywhere.
Nene said it was her friend that called on her behalf and did that Nene said she never talked directly to promoter. Sheree got the promoter on the phone and the promoter said it was Nene.
Hmmmm it's hard to say cause we've watched Nene talk and then she doesn't remember what she said and tries to turn it around on people all the time like they are crazy and she is the victim. On the other hand did Diane (the friend) actually do that? Would she have to get Nene permission to lower her rate to a competitive rate?)
or is Sheree really just harboring resentment. I won't say jealousy cause I truly don't believe she is jealous of anyone. What I do think could be the case is Sheree has watched re-runs of the past shows and watched how much stuff Nene has talked about her and on some level Nene is just a friend-emy (friend enemy) . All of the Housewives have the same opportunities and I'm sure that won't be the last Housewife we see on the Apprentice.
Sheree and Phaedra are buddied up and Cynthia started a modeling agency in Atlanta (you go girl).
